Or maybe you’re looking at how to use these plugins. You could even be looking at finding some good third-party VSTs to add to this list. FL Studio does not allow for native use of VST instruments however, FL Studio has a built-in VST wrapper which does allow for the inclusion of third-party VST instruments. Because of the use of this wrapper, Hybrid 3 can open and be used in FL Studio, however the MPK mini MKII series controller will not automatically map to the various. Set up plug-ins on Mac. When you install the ARIA Player on Mac, all of the available plug-ins that you chose to install are automatically installed to the correct locations. On Mac, host programs use the same folders for VST or Audio Units plug-ins. After installation, you may need to direct your host program to rescan your plug-ins folders. Where are my plugins in Pro Tools First?
As you can see, I have a very limited amount of plugins available here.
But, if I open the full version of Pro Tools, you’ll see I have access to all of the plugins that I own.
So why can’t I use all of my plugins in Pro Tools First?
The reason is, Pro Tools First ONLY supports plugins that are included with it, or purchased from within the Avid Marketplace, or your Avid Account.
This means you CAN NOT buy plugins directly from Waves.com, AudioDeluxe, Sweetwater, etc… and use them in PT First. You could however use them in the full version of Pro Tools.

What about VSTs?
Well, no version of Pro Tools supports the VST format. ALL versions of Pro Tools only use the AAX format for plugins.

Interestingly, the location for all of your AAX plugins will be the same for all Avid Products.
Meaning, the full version or Pro Tools, Pro Tools First, and even Media Composer, all look for AAX plugins in the same location.
However, Pro Tools First CANNOT use these plugins unless they were purchased through the Avid Marketplace.
Pro Tools First is a feature reduced free version of Pro Tools, you can think of it like a ‘Feemium’ app.

You can use basic features for free, but if you want add-ons you have to buy those individually, directly from the app maker.
I couldn’t buy more features for InShot from Adobe for example, or vice versa.
The point of Pro Tools First is to let you use the basic features of Pro Tools and get use to the workflow without having to purchase a subscription or perpetual license.
If you like what you see and want more features, you would then purchase a license for the full version and unlock, currently, about 115 included plugins, hundreds of advanced features, and of course the ability to use any thrid-party AAX plugins, no matter where they are purchased from.
So, that’s why you cant find your plugins in Pro Tools First.
They must be included with the software, or purchased from the Avid Marketplace.
Even if you own a FULL, PAID version of Pro Tools, your plugins WILL NOT work in Pro Tools First if they were not purchased through the Avid Marketplace.
It’s a built-in limitation. If you want to use third-party plugins in Pro Tools First, you must buy them from the Avid Marketplace. Or, upgrade to the full version of Pro Tools and use any AAX plugins that you want, purchased from wherever you want.

NOTE: Pro Tools First does come with several plugins. Some of them need to be installed separately from the DAW. You can find your plugins in your MyAvid account and in Avid Link.

Find Plugins Mac
FL is highly unpredictable when it comes to blocksize handling. All our plugins highly depend on a static blocksize due to the high amount of complexity of the calculations.
We encountered a similar issue lately and found the following workaround in FL12:
frei:raum ist actually also VST3 – it’s simply not copied to the respective folder
– pick the VST freiraum.dll (probably from C:Program FilesSteinbergVSTPlugins) and MOVE it to C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3
– rename it to freiraum.vst3
– open FL and load an instance of frei:raum – the user interface will open (please do NOT start playback)
– click the ‘Settings’ icon in the top-left corner
– switch to the ‘Processing’ tab
– tick the “Used fixed size buffer” checkbox
– audio should start to flow now
Please also make sure that the overall buffersize is at least 1024 samples!

1. Open FL Studio.
2. Refer to the ‘Plugin Database > Effects’ folder of your FL Studio Browser.
3. Locate and delete any freiraum entries saved in this location by right-clicking the entry and selecting ‘Delete file…’. If you don’t have a favorite entry for freiraum you can proceed.
4. Download, extract, and launch the attached freiraum.reg file. (http://downloads01.sonible.com/download.php?file=misc/freiraum-FL12-fix.zip)
5. Accept any prompts regarding applying the registry key and values.
6. Restart FL Studio once the keys and values are applied.
7. Navigate to ‘Plugin Database > Installed > Effects > VST’ and load the freiraum plugin entry from this location. Test the plugin.
For those concerned about what the registry file does, it adds a key for ‘freiraum’ under ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREImage-LineSharedPluginsFruity WrapperPluginsVST’ with some predefined Wrapper Settings for the plugin, in particular ‘Use fixed size buffers’ is enabled.
